Fast charging smartphones in a few minutes is getting closer to everyday reality. At the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona (MWC 2022), a new smartphone set a record for charging speed, said Milen Ganev, a partner in the Bulgarian software company E-CARD, which is in the top 50 of Europe.
SUPERVOOC technology promises to power a 4500 mAh smartphone battery up to 100% in nine minutes and up to 50% in just 3.5 minutes. The 240-watt system is still a prototype and it is not possible to say how many cycles the battery would last at such fast charging speed.
The system will find application in the new phone models this year, Ganev explained. "SUPERVOOC flash charging technology is capable of charging a 4500 mAh battery from 1% to 50% in 5 minutes and up to 100% in 15 minutes, "the company said.
The charging process will not ruin the battery, thanks to the "Battery Health Engine (BHE)" technology. "Battery Health Engine is able to maintain the battery at 80% of its original capacity after 1600 charging cycles. Thus, the technology essentially doubles the life of the battery according to current industry standards” says the company. This means you’ll be able to charge your phone every day for four years, explained Milen Ganev from "E-CARD".
