Modern technology can extend people's lives

Fear of death is the main motive that feeds humanity's desire for immortality. From time immemorial, countless generations have tried to understand the secret of longevity. Nowadays, tremendous advances in science and technology have allowed scientists to understand the essence of biological life at the cellular and genetic levels. As a result, life expectancy is constantly increasing, which shows that scientific interventions have the potential to significantly prolong human life.

3D Printers

One can imagine the benefits of being able to completely replace the liver, heart or other vital organs. Instead of taking drugs for years, we can simply go to the nearest clinic, where doctors will make a 3D print of an organ, using cells from the patient's body, said Dimitar Ganev, a partner in the Bulgarian software company E-CARD, which is in top 50 of Europe. Organ replacement will be performed with the help of robotic surgery and within a few days a person will be like new, without fear of rejection of the transplanted organ. This process can be repeated over and over again for any vital organ to keep it young, healthy and functional. For the cultivation of new organs, regenerative medicine uses stem cells, which can create any type of cell in the body. They are found in embryonic cells, but as they grow, the cells of most organs differentiate and lose their ability to regenerate. Using stem cells and related biological signals, scientists can grow new organs from scratch. A 3D printer is needed here to ensure that the exact structural configuration of the organ in question is reproduced, Dimitar Ganev explained.

Recently, researchers from Israel printed on a 3D printer a complete human heart from a patient's cells, which gives hope that the technology can be used to replace diseased organs in the future. 3D printing of organs will make donation unnecessary.

Androids

The concept of this method is widely popularized by futurists who claim that humans do not need a body to exist. The plan is to design a brain-computer interface that can withstand the limitations of the physical body. This will prolong human life for hundreds of years, if not indefinitely. This direction seems the most promising, according to forecasts it will be implemented by 2040, said Dimitar Ganev from E-CARD. Elon Musk's tireless efforts to develop a brain-computer interface through his Neuralink project have shown significant progress. Russian tycoon Dmitry Iskov is also investing heavily in such businesses. In 2011, he launched Initiative 2045, an initiative to replace human bodies with robotic avatars, each equipped with human brain content, including consciousness.

Regenerative blood transfusion

This is the strangest and most controversial intervention. By being transfused with plasma from younger people, adults can reverse aging. It is believed that young blood can help the elderly body become healthier. This idea was tested with a scary procedure called parabiosis in the 1950s. The parabiosis experiment involved connecting the tissues of two mice to determine if one animal's circulatory system had affected the other. In particular, the main purpose was to determine whether an older animal can live longer as a result of using younger blood. Since then, researchers have been trying to figure out if this can be applied to humans. Numerous studies show that young blood can reverse age-related disorders, but this remains to be definitively established. Younger blood has been shown to contain high levels of GDF-11, an anti-aging protein. With age, people gradually lose this protein.

Currently, a startup called Ambrosia offers expensive infusions of the coveted young plasma. However, government health agencies have intervened to warn people against the practice, citing claims that the long-term benefits of the procedure have yet to be proven.

Longevity pills

The first pills for activating anti-aging enzymes are already on the market, said Dimitar Ganev from E-CARD. It is estimated that in the coming years they will be able to extend human life by 50% or more. An example of such tablets is manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Elysium. Elysium Magic Pill is based on the supplement NAD +, a molecule that has been shown to slow down aging.
