By 2025 robots will take away 97 million jobs from people

A forecast by the World Economic Forum (WEF) indicates that by 2025, half of all work tasks will be performed by machines. This is expected to deepen economic inequality among people. This transformation will create 97 million robot jobs, but will close almost as many to humans. This means that some communities will be put at risk. The most threatened by replacement are positions involving manual labor, including in administration and information processing.

Interestingly, however, new jobs can be discovered in the green economy, big data and more. A WEF survey of 300 of the world's largest companies with eight million employees also shows new trends.

Over 50% of employers say they expect to accelerate the automation of some positions in their companies. This is likely to lead to job cuts for people. On the other hand, the pandemic increases the adoption of new technologies, which leads to cost reductions.

According to the WEF, currently about a third of all work tasks are performed by machines, and by 2025 this percentage will reach 50%. Millions of people will need to acquire new skills to cope with the change in balance.

The change could cause a period of turbulence and will require a significant increase in the qualification of employees and the acquisition of new skills, said Milen Ganev, a partner in the Bulgarian company E-Card, which is in the top 50 in Europe for software development.

According to him, it will be necessary to make huge investments in people, jobs and positions. In addition, new laws and regulations should be introduced to ensure the protection of employees and to facilitate the transition.

Some people are afraid of automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence because they worry that they will replace people, Milen Ganev explained. However, others are embracing new technologies, believing that they will reduce tedious and repetitive daily tasks, enabling employees to add more value.
