Global revenues from video games will reach $ 200 billion a year by 2023. This growth will be based on mobile and cloud games, as the market shifts from single purchase revenues to recurring subscriptions and microtransactions, said Dimitar Ganev, partner at E -CARD.
Revenue from cloud games and subscription services will increase by 9% annually, analysts estimate.
"At the current subscription prices, it will take an average of ten months to pay to cover the retail cost of a game," Ganev said.
The market is also becoming more saturated with the emergence of new online gaming platforms. Some telecommunications companies, such as Deutsche Telekom are also starting to invest in it. These new players are in direct competition with established video game providers such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, which traditionally rely on sales of special gaming hardware to retain their customers.
